If you have any questions about this notice or how we handle your data, please email us at the address above.
2. What this notice covers
This notice explains how Ryyder collects and uses personal data when you:
- Visit the Ryyder marketing website at ryyder.co.uk;
- Sign up to our waitlist to be notified when the Ryyder app is available;
- Contact us through the website (for example via email or any contact form we provide).
It does not cover the Ryyder mobile app itself. When the app launches, we will publish a separate Privacy Policy that explains how we handle rider, professional, equine, and health data inside the app. At that point, you will be presented with the app Privacy Policy and asked to agree to it before creating an account.
3. The personal data we collect
When you join our waitlist, we collect the following:
| Field | Required? | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Yes | So we can email you when the Ryyder app is available, and (with your consent) send occasional updates about Ryyder. |
| First name | Optional | To personalise our updates. |
| Postcode area (e.g. KA18) | Optional | To understand where demand is, so we can decide which areas Ryyder launches in first. |
| Role indicators (one or more of: rider, farrier, saddler, trainer, equine massage therapist, yard / hub owner) | Optional | To make sure the launch message we send you is relevant. You can pick more than one if you wear several hats (e.g. rider + yard owner). |
| Marketing consent (tick box) | Optional | Records whether you have consented to receive marketing emails beyond the initial launch notice. |
When you visit the website, our hosting provider may also process the following technical data automatically:
- IP address (used to deliver the page to your device);
- Browser type, operating system, and approximate location derived from IP;
- Pages you visited and the date/time of each visit.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, behavioural tracking, or social media pixels on this website. If that changes, this notice will be updated and a cookie banner will appear.
4. Why we use your data and our lawful basis
Under the UK GDPR we have to tell you both why we collect your data and the lawful basis for doing so.
| Purpose | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Sending you a single notification email when the Ryyder app is available to sign up | Legitimate interest — you gave us your email specifically to be notified of launch. |
| Sending you optional marketing updates about Ryyder (e.g. progress, partner announcements) | Consent — only if you ticked the marketing consent box during waitlist signup. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in every marketing email. |
| Hosting and securing the website (technical data above) | Legitimate interest — necessary to keep the site running and protect against abuse. |
| Responding to enquiries you send us | Legitimate interest — to answer the question you asked. |
If we ever want to use your data for a new purpose that isn't covered above, we will contact you first and either ask for your consent or explain the new lawful basis.
5. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We never share it with advertisers or data brokers. Your waitlist data is only shared with the following categories of processors who help us run the website and email service:
| Processor | What they do | Where they are based |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase, Inc. | Database hosting (where the waitlist signups are stored) | EU region servers |
| Resend (Resend, Inc.) | Sending the waitlist confirmation + launch notice | United States |
| Vercel Inc. | Serving the ryyder.co.uk website | United States (with global edge network) |
| Vercel Web Analytics (provided by Vercel Inc.) | Privacy-respecting visitor analytics — no cookies, no tracking of individuals across sites, no advertising profiles | United States |
Each of these processors operates under a data-processing agreement with us and is contractually required to handle your data only as we instruct.
We will also share data with law enforcement, regulators, or courts if we are legally required to (e.g. via a court order or valid statutory request).
6. International transfers
If any of the processors listed above are based outside the United Kingdom or European Economic Area, the personal data will only be transferred where:
- The destination country has been recognised by the UK as providing an adequate level of protection; or
- We have signed the UK International Data Transfer Agreement (IDTA) or the UK Addendum to the EU Standard Contractual Clauses with the processor.
Email privacy@ryyder.co.uk if you would like a copy of the specific transfer mechanism we use.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep your waitlist signup data only as long as we need it for the purpose it was collected:
- Waitlist email + name + role indicator: kept until either (a) you ask us to delete it, or (b) 12 months after the Ryyder app launches, whichever comes first. After the app launches we will email everyone on the waitlist, give a clear unsubscribe link, and delete unconverted entries after 12 months.
- Marketing consent record: kept for as long as we are relying on it (i.e. while you remain subscribed) plus 2 years afterwards, so we can prove the consent was given.
- Website technical logs: kept for up to 90 days.
- Email correspondence with you: kept for up to 2 years after the last reply, to maintain a record of the conversation.
If you ask us to delete your data sooner under your rights below, we will do so within 1 month.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access — ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you (Subject Access Request).
- Rectification — ask us to correct anything that is wrong or incomplete.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your data ("right to be forgotten") where we have no overriding lawful basis to keep it.
- Restrict how we use your data while we deal with another request.
- Object to our use of your data on the basis of legitimate interest, or to direct marketing at any time.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where consent was the lawful basis. This will not affect anything we already did before you withdrew.
- Data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format.
To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@ryyder.co.uk. We will respond within 1 month. We may ask you to verify your identity before acting on the request, to protect against unauthorised access.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office if you believe we have mishandled your data — though we'd appreciate the chance to put things right first. You can contact the ICO at:
- Website: https://ico.org.uk
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
9. Children
Ryyder's waitlist is intended for adults aged 18 or over. If you are under 16, please do not submit your email to the waitlist without a parent or guardian's permission. If we discover we have collected data from someone we believe to be under 16 without parental consent, we will delete it.
10. Changes to this notice
If we make material changes to this notice, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, where appropriate, email waitlist subscribers with a summary of the change.
When the Ryyder mobile app launches, this notice will be replaced by a more comprehensive Privacy Policy specifically for the app. You will be presented with the new policy before you create an app account.
